WWI-The War to End all Wars
|
The true reasons on why it started were that of Militarism, Allies, Imperialism, and Nationalism. Everything that had happened between 1914-1918 had correlated between the Central Powers and the Triple Entente. But at the same time the real cause was because of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. This ignited the fight between France, Russia, Britain, Austria Hungary, Germany, and Italy. |
TechnologyFor the duration of the War, it had mainly been fought in trenches-used by both sides. At first, the Germans had introduced a new type of weapon, which consisted of Chemical Gas. It then was followed by the French, developing a stronger and more effective way to kill their enemies. Victory was hard to achieve in battle due to the very fact that most of the battles had been a stalemate caused by trench warfare. The weapons that had been used were of machine guns, flamethrowers, poison gas, tanks, and more.

America's entryAt first, America had been strongly against joining in the war. For it had been very risky due to the fact that it could've caused conflict within the country. Soon enough, America saw that entering the war was inevitable and needed to be done. The main factors were of unrestricted submarine warfare, the sinking of the Lusitania, and the Zimmerman Note. Without America joining in, the war might have ended differently considering that Russia had just dropped out.

Outcome of WarAs a result of the war, 9 million soildiers had been killed, and around 30 million other people were affected along with it. Along with the cost of death, there had been a horrific amount of damage done to all major cities all around Europe. After the war ended, President Wilson and other leaders met up in Paris to discuss what they were going to do with The Central Powers. Wilson displayed mercy with his 14 points, in which he didn't really punish them as much as the other leaders had hoped. While at the Treaty of Versailles, Britain, France, and Italy came together to create terms of peace. This did not end up well because overall, all it did was create even more conflict.
