To better understand this unit, it is best to know that the main ideas were of Africa, India, the Opium War, Rebellions in China, the Meiji Era, and Mexico's desire for change. The British intended to help out the people of India by making the land more modern-like. This however changed, and when the British left India, the people were then left wondering because the British did not teach them how to live on their own. A short time later, the British landed in China willing to trade the Opium they harvested in India-due to the fact that they had been desperate for money. After awhile, China came to their senses and a war between the two countries broke out. In the end, China lost terribly because of Britain's naval power. Rebellions in China known as the Boxer and Taiping Rebellions soon came after. The main difference between the two were that the Boxers had been more violent but at the same time, both groups killed countless amounts of people. The Meiji Era had been a time of renewal for the Japanese. On one hand they wanted to keep their old traditions and in the other hand they soon realized that in order to live without worrying about being conquered, they should join in as well by cleverly imperializing themselves. Mexico had it rough as well, every time they had gotten back on track with whatever they were doing at the time, they were given setbacks such as Santa Anna and Porfirio Diaz. In which both men caused problems for Mexico due to their corruption within the government.
Modern Global ImpactDue to the fact that the United States is modern-like, we have been greatly gifted with some of the best establishments around the world. As well as businesses all around are now able to manufacture in a much more effective way. With this said, Imperialism makes the lives of others much more easier than how it was before. Therefore, it is self evident that Imperialism helps Countries who are struggling to get their economy back on track. Although it may seem wrong, Social Darwinism did take its toll on countries unable to protect themselves from being imperialized. For example, a powerful first world country like Britain is entitled to conquer a less fortunate third world country if they ever feel the need to.

Benefits of ImperialismSome benefits may include that while imperializing, it may cause countries to gain land that they might have needed in order to continue their development of new modern technology. This also helps to get better income within a certain country's economy. Imperialism also sets the standard for how someone should live, instead of living off a struggling society. In a way Imperialism can lead to a weakened country, but not if whoever's in charge can avoid all possible mistakes that might lead them to the wrong path.

Potential issues caused by ImperialismImperialism leads to wars, racism, etc. only when a country abuses its power. Such as if they want to invade another country, there has to be a reason behind it. Or else, there would be no point and it would just be a game on who can be the strongest without getting conquered. This can also lead to racism in a way where the people of one country were brought up to hate those who are of different descent. And the only way to ignore this is by teaching the society good morals-to know what's right and wrong. Imperialism does more good than harm because there are so many good rewards to reap after imperializing is over. Such as income goes up once trading begins between different countries. Imperialism can also be used as a tool to unify neighboring countries around a certain area, which is always good if the people in charge take care of business the right way.
